Weight Loss Secret For Success #1 - Food Sequencing

If you are one of those people who has tried every diet in the book and seen no change, little effect, or temporary results, there is a very simple reason why this occurs.  Diets don't work.  It is true that if you want to lose weight, eating less and moving more is a good start.  However, there are  several simple steps that can be taken to make your weight loss program successful.  The step I want to introduce you to in this article is Food Sequencing.

What is Food Sequencing?

When we start a meal by eating carbohydrates, including complex carbohydrates such as vegetables and fruits, our bodies respond by producing insulin, the fat storing hormone.  When we start a meal with two to three bites of protein, our body produces glucagon, the fat burning hormone. 

All carbohydrates, including complex carbohydrates break down into simple sugars in the blood stream.  Our bodies are only able to metabolize a small portion of what we consume, which is why having the majority of our carbohydrates come from green leafy vegetables is best.   Since we are only able to metabolize a small portion of the simple sugars in the blood stream, the remaining amount is stored as fat in the adipose tissue of the body.

Okay, so what am I supposed to do?

By starting with a few bites of protein, the body is given the opportunity to produce glucagon first, the fat burning hormone and promotes a more effective metabolizing of the foods you are consuming.

If you frequently eat out, you may find you are often served a salad before your dinner.  Instead, have your salad served with your dinner, avoid breads of any kind and start with a few bites of the chicken, fish or beef that you ordered.  If you are a vegetarian, soy, tofu and other meatless protein selections will work just as well.

So, it's the order in which we eat our foods that Food Sequencing helps us lose weight?

That's it!!  The key is to take control of the order in which you consume your foods.  Food sequencing is a simple and easy way to assist your body in metabolizing your food in the most effective and beneficial way.
